Check out this 1931 Ford restomod with fewer than 500 miles since completion!  While this steel-bodied car may still have the classic profile of a Model A, just about everything else is new and much-improved from all those years ago.  We’re talking about LS1 power, modern brakes / steering / suspension, a custom interior, and so much more.

Titled as a 1931 Ford, this “Fordor” sedan with its suicide rear doors is a rare sight compared to the more common “Tudor” style.  The body is steel with fiberglass fenders, and the roof has been changed to a full steel piece instead of the standard chicken wire and vinyl.  Other modifications include a 1932 style grille, a fixed windshield, and relocated fuel tank from the cowl to the rear.  The metallic gray paint looks beautiful on the nice straight body.  The chrome and trim are all in excellent condition, and the 5-slot aluminum wheels give a great look.  And what a stance on this one!

The engine compartment has seen a major upgrade with a modern LS1 powerplant (12561168 block, 241 heads).  This fuel-injected aluminum Corvette motor is a popular swap for a number of reasons.  It makes an easy 350 hp yet only weighs 30 pounds more than the car’s original 4-cylinder 40 hp flathead!  These engines have great reliability as well; just turn the key and go.  And while you see LS swaps in a myriad of older cars and trucks, you will not find many Model A conversions like this one.

The engine is backed by a TH350 automatic transmission and a Ford 9” rear end.  The front suspension is a fully independent Mustang II arrangement while the rear employs a 4-link design with Panhard bar.  There are adjustable coilovers all around so you can easily adjust the ride height to your liking.  Steering uses a rack and pinion arrangement and the brakes are 4-wheel discs.

The interior looks nothing like it did in 1931!  Starting at the dashboard, you will find a full array of center mounted digital gauges that look terrific against the machine turned aluminum pattern.  Note the concealed cupholders as well.  The front bucket seats offer power adjustments and are quite comfortable.  A black and red theme is carried across all the door and kick panels.  There is a tilt steering column topped by a 4-spoke steering wheel, while a tall floor shifter is used for gear selection.  You will also find an attractive overhead console for the Pioneer sound system with speakers front and rear.  This Model A also has functional headlights, self-cancelling turn signals, horn, third brake light, and windshield wiper.

Street rods come in many different flavors, but we’ve never seen another LS-powered Model A four-door sedan.  And while originality is always nice, this one is also very well built.  It runs like a modern car, has far more performance than Henry ever could have imagined, and is available now for a fraction of its replacement cost.
